Douglas Paul KINSMAN

September 24, 1947 — February 12, 2013

KINSMAN, Douglas Paul, Age 65, of Fenton, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Karmanos Cancer Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Kurian Kollapallil celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday 5-9PM; Friday 1-4 and 5-9PM; and Saturday 10-11AM of Mass at church. A vigil service will be 7:00PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Karmanos Cancer Institute or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Doug was born September 24, 1947 in Flint the son of Paul and Louise (Bernhardt) Kinsman. He graduated from St. Mary High School, Mt. Morris and later from Western Michigan University. Douglas was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam as 1st Lieutenant, Airborne Rangers in the 173rd Airborne. He married Elaine Sedik in Detroit on June 15, 1973. Doug enjoyed golf, hiking and fishing. He was also an avid runner for many years, participating in marathons and 29 years of the Crim. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Elaine; 3 children, Emily Kinsman of Fenton, Matthew Kinsman (Dana) of Fenton, Marissa West (Bob) of Hartland; 5 grandchildren, Jacob and Elena Kinsman, Eva and Anna West, Charlotte Kinsman; parents, Paul and Louise Kinsman of Burton; 3 sisters, Paulette Bednas (Bob), Claudette Schroeder, Christine Kinsman; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. The family extends many thanks to the BMT Team at Karmanos Cancer Center.
