Dr. Nallapu N. Reddy, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Michigan, died on January 17, 2019. He was 79. Dr. Reddy was born June 22, 1939 in Nagaram, India. He moved to the United States in 1958 to pursue his education, earning his BS in Mining Engineering at Michigan Technological University, MS in Mining Engineering at The University of Missouri, MA in Economics at The University of Notre Dame, and PhD from Pennsylvania State University. He served as an associate professor at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York prior to joining the faculty at The University of Michigan-Flint, where he spent the remainder of his over 40 year career in higher education. He also served as a visiting professor of Economics at London School of Economics, Oxford University, and Washington University. He received numerous distinctions, including the Distinguished Professor award for Teaching Excellence and the Provost's Special Merit Award for Professional Development. His passion was traveling the world and experiencing new cultures. He also enjoyed reading both fiction and non-fiction and volunteering in the Flint community. He is survived by his wife Saroja of Grand Blanc; daughter Lata of New York; daughter Mala and son-in-law Arujunaa of San Francisco; and granddaughters Zara and Kareena.
