Dr. Teddy Jay SMECKERT

SMECKERT, Dr. Teddy Jay - Age 84, of Grand Blanc, beloved and cherished husband, father, and grandfather, died August 19, 2013 at his residence. Services will be 2 PM Friday, September 13 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the Fenton United Methodist Church. Ted was born April 20, 1929 in Snover, MI, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Houghton) Smeckert. He was graduate of U of M Dental School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. He married Judith Elaine Coffman on May 31, 1980. He retired from his Dental practice in Ypsilanti in 1981. Dr. Smeckert was a member of the Fenton United Methodist Church and served as a Stephen Ministry Leader. He was a member of the Michigan and American Dental Associations. He was a private pilot and enjoyed scuba diving, racing go-carts, and stained glass work. Surviving are: wife Judith; children, Sue (Dr. Richard) Yamamoto of Santa Paula, CA, David (Cindy) Smeckert of Linden, Jonathon (Tammy) Robison of Fenton; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fran Smeckert.
