Duane Leroy KENNEDY

December 9, 1924 — November 11, 2012

KENNEDY, Duane Leroy, age 87, of Fenton, a Proud Veteran, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 11, 2012 , on Veteran's Day. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment at Tyrone Memory Gardens, Fenton. Visitation will be Tuesday 1-9PM and Wednesday 12PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to F.O.E #2460 for needy children or the Disabled American Veterans. Duane was born December 9, 1924 in Corunna the son of the late Frank D. and Lillian (Maurer) Kennedy. He married Margaret A. Scott on February 14, 1948 in Owosso and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2000. Duane served with great pride as a pilot, in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He managed Ross Automotive in Flint, and later shared ownership in the business. He also was a partner in ownership of Ken-See Auto Glass in Fenton. Duane retired to the good life in 1979. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fenton #2460 with Golden Status. Duane was also a longtime member of Fenton V.F.W. He was an excellent pool player, outshining many half his age. Duane enjoyed fishing for bluegills at his cabin on Vaughn Lake. He fed and nurtured the squirrels for so many years they became tame. In his 80's, Duane continued to entertain many, singing Karaoke at the Eagles Club. Duane worked hard, and played hard as well. He loved to live life, and enjoyed the company of family. They will all miss him dearly. Surviving are his children, Jackie (Alan) Maus of Grand Blanc, Dean (Benita) Kennedy of Corunna, Cindy (Terry) Summers of Katy, TX, Sue (Roy) Baird of Fenton, Pam Kennedy of Grand Blanc, Jim (Linda) Kennedy of Linden, Joseph (Kayla) Kennedy of Gaines; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Epley of Durand, Mary Bender of Corunna; daughter-in-law, Roberta Kennedy of Fenton; brother-in-law, Bernard (Bessie) Scott of Owosso; dear friend, Donna Wood of Linden; several nieces and nephews and extended family. He was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Kennedy; great-grandson, Jordan Kane. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Crestmont and Genesys Health Park for their professional care.
