Duane Sherman Wittum

Wittum, Duane Sherman - Age 79, of Swartz Creek, passed away July 5, 2026. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Duane was born September 14, 1946 in Flint, the son of Howard and Allie (Hoover) Wittum. Duane graduated from Mt. Morris High School and married the love of his life, Patricia Blake, on December 28, 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Duane began a career with General Motors, retiring in 1996 after many years of dedicated service. Never one to slow down, Duane founded a robotics consulting company following his retirement. Through his work, he traveled extensively, helping General Motors and other automotive manufacturers implement and set up robotic systems. Duane enjoyed spending time on the golf course, but above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He always put his family first, and they remained the center of his life. Duane loved his dog, Jerry Lee. Surviving are: wife of 60 years, Patricia; four children, Tricia (Steve) Oakes, Robert (Kathy) Wittum, Lisa (Joel) Humphrey, and Susanna (Jacques) Holbrook; 13 grandchildren, Cameron, Michael, Alaina (Jack), Griffin, Carson, Conner, Leah, Kealey (Jack), Monica (Josh), Christian (Gabby), Hunter, Mercy, and Corina; six great-grandchildren, Jayce, Chloe, Rowan, Ridley, Sloan and Blair; brother-in-law, Mike (Cindy) Blake.
