Earl Nielsen

Nielsen, Earl Lee - Age 81, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of South Branch and Flint, died Sunday, January 11, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, January 16, 2015, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 11AM to 8PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Earl was born February 8, 1933 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He married Geraldine Slater in Fort Myers Florida on March 17, 1993. Earl served his country in Navy during the Korean War. He worked at the GM Ternstedt and Fisher Body Plants for 30 years retiring in 1986. Mr. Nielsen was Past Post Commander of the VFW Chevrolet Motor Post 3087, Flint, Michigan. Earl enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife Geraldine and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. Surviving are: wife, Geraldine of Fort Myers, FL; children, Dennis (Valerie) Nielsen of South Branch, Mark Nielsen of Oscoda, Kathleen Acosta of WA, Matthew (Nenita) Nielsen of VA, Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons James Nielsen on May 9, 2004, step son Galen Haynes on December 9, 2014, 4 brothers and a sister.
