Edward Lindsay Birnie

Edward "Ed" Lindsay Birnie - Age 84, of Swartz Creek, passed away on March 16, 2026. A committal service with full military honors will take place at a future date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Arrangements entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.

Ed was born on October 20, 1941, in Flint, Michigan to the late Gordon Lyall Birnie Sr. and Lillian Marie Brevik. Ed was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the Navy, he continued to use his mechanic skills on automobiles. He enjoyed going to his hunting cabin up north, cheering on the Detroit Lions, or catching a boxing match. Ed lived his life with honor and integrity and will be missed by many.

Ed is survived by his daughters Lindsay (Keith) Birnie-Decator, and Lillian (Dave) Birnie; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers Craig, Lyall (Doreen) and Reed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
