CHRENKO, Edward A. - age 88, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at Hyde Park Memory Care in Flushing. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek with Fr. Nate Sokol celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 2-5 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to a local charity of one's choice. Mr. Chrenko was born January 11, 1925 in Owosso, the son of Steve J. and Mary P. (Harcek) Chrenko. He was a graduate of Owosso High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Mary H. Libra on June 14, 1947 in Owosso. Mr. Chrenko was an active businessman in Swartz Creek. He and his wife owned and operated the Creek Theater and the Sports Center for many years. He was active in community serving on the Zoning Board for 27 years, was a member of the Czech Singers and Friendship Club and was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He loved polka music and was also active at the St. Mary's 50 and Up Group . Surviving are: wife, Mary H. Chrenko; eight children, Linda (Roger) Bloss of Swartz Creek, Dan (Alice) Chrenko of Northville, Diane Chrenko of Redford, Patricia (Terry) Matzke of Swartz Creek, Jim (Lori) Chrenko of Swartz Creek, William Chrenko of Swartz Creek, Sherry (Matt) Lupo of Essexville, Rob Chrenko of Clawson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; infant grandson, Christopher Chrenko; brother, Joseph S. Chrenko; and daughter-in-law, Jayneen Chrenko.
