HUGAN, Edward Benjamin - age 77, of Holly, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at home surrounded by family after a long fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, October 29 at Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, 2581 N. Long Lake Rd., Fenton with Rev Duane Lindsey and Pastor Char Shay officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Monday with a Masonic service at 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. Additional visitation will be held 10-11 AM Tuesday at the church before the service.
Edward was born March 13, 1942 in Flint, the son of Benjamin and Mary (Williams) Hugan. He married Madolyn Nickels on July 18, 1964. Mr. Hugan was a teacher and coach for Carman-Ainsworth Schools for 37 ½ years. Ed was accomplished in industrial arts, especially passionate about wood-working and could often be found working on projects in his barn. He was committed to his Faith and was a longtime member of Lake Fenton United Methodist Church. Ed was a past Master of Fenton Masonic Lodge # 109 (1986); a past president of the volunteers at Genesys Hospital. Ed expressed himself best by serving others and was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to those needing a loyal friend.
Surviving are: his beloved wife of 55 years, Madolyn; 3 loving children, Mary-Margaret (Roger) Whitley, his best friend and son, Kenneth Hugan, Molly (Matt) Selan; 5 precious grandchildren, Jack and Amanda Whitley, Matthew, Michael, and Madolyn Selan; 3 doting sisters, Nancy (Robert) Rajewski, Margaret (Wayne) Blaser, Eloise Nickels; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Lake Fenton United Methodist Church or to support the Rogel Cancer Center Fund.
