Edward Charles STANKE

STANKE, Edward Charles - age 85, of Swartz Creek, pasted away Friday, February 1, 2013 at home with his family at his side. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Sam Hacker officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday, and 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Stanke was born March 28, 1927 in Flint, the son of Herman and Tillie (Hafner) Stanke. He married Shirley Gordon on October 26, 1952; Shirley preceded him in death on January 16, 2011. Mr. Stanke was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was the proud owner of a 4-generation family business, Ed Stanke and Son Mechanical Contractors. Mr. Stanke enjoyed classic cars and watching NASCAR with his family. His son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Surviving are: son, Craig (Gail) Stanke of Swartz Creek; granddaughter, Kristy (Justin) McLachlan and their boys, Griffin and Brodey; grandson, Craig (Brenda) Stanke and their children, Chase and Elaina; very special angel, his sister, Barbara Medina; and good friend, Betty Draper.
