Efird Meetze

MEETZE, Efird Joseph "Jay" - Age 92, of Flint/Burton, died April 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 15 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Friday and 10 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Jay was born July 11, 1924 in Knoxville, TN, the son of Efird Joseph and Laura (McGee) Meetze. Jay was a devoted husband of 59 years to his wife, Lyn, and a loving father. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years and was a member of the "Million Mile Club". He was a member of Teamsters and Richfield Road Baptist Church. Surviving are his children, Jerry Jay (Rhonda) Meetze, Bonita Joyce (Jeffrey) Thomas; daughter-in-law, Sandra Meetze; grandchildren, Darrin Roger (Brandi) Meetze, Jay D. Meetze, Heather (Mike) Ernest, Rebecca (James) Demidovich, Lauren (Ryan) Hanna, Ryan Thomas; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn "Lyn"; son, Roger Lee Meetze; parents; brother, Jesse Meetze; half brother, William Linnins; half sister, Estelle Quackenbush.
