Elaine Dawn Vanderstelt, age 77, of Flushing, a cherished family matriarch, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Flint Township, Michigan. A funeral service will take place 12:00 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Rick Schmidt will preside with burial following at 2:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 7 at the funeral home and again from 11:00 AM until the time of service Tuesday.
Elaine was born on March 15, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of the late Albert and Angeline (Riemersma) Westfield. She graduated from Mona Shores High School in Muskegon with the class of 1966. On October 12, 1968, Elaine married Gerald Vanderstelt, a union that marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Shortly thereafter, in 1969, they moved to Flushing, Michigan, where they established their home and family. Together, they enjoyed spending their 28 years of winters in Arcadia, Florida, creating cherished memories in a setting that brought them joy.
Her professional journey spanned over three decades in the banking industry, concluding a fulfilling 25-year career at Citizen's Bank in Flint from which she retired in 2007. Throughout her career, she was known for her work ethic, dedication, and the warm relationships she built with customers and colleagues alike. Elaine was very active in her community. She enjoyed Bunco, BINGO, traveling ladies, Red Hats and golfing.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Vanderstelt; their two sons, David (Shawn) Vanderstelt and Douglas (Jenny) Vanderstelt; as well as her treasured grandchildren, Ella and Weston Vanderstelt, Lorna (Dalton) Cosner, and Anthony (Sierra) Maranzano; and great-grandchildren, Corrine and Curtis Cosner and Luciano Joseph Maranzano. Elaine also leaves behind her sister, Arloa Tjapkes; along with her niece and nephew, Laurel and Brian.
