Eleanor Lucy DIKOS

DIKOS, Eleanor Lucy, age 87, of Swartz Creek, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at Kith Haven. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:00PM Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 7563 Mary St., Swartz Creek. Fr. Dan Kogut celebrant. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1PM Tuesday until time of Mass at church. Visitation will be Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 6-8PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Eleanor was born August 29, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of the late Joseph and Lottie (Wisniewska) Jendrzejewski. She married Thomas Dikos on October 11, 1947 in Standish and he preceded her in death in 1984. Eleanor and Thomas moved to the Flint area as a young couple to raise their family. She was a member of the St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and a playground aide at St. Mary's School. Later in life she traveled on bus trips with the 50's and Over Group, was active at the Swartz Creek Senior Center and had fun playing bunko. Eleanor was an avid card player, enjoying cribbage and euchre. She was never idle, spending time crocheting, reading and solving crossword puzzles. Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook! More than anything she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, attending their school and athletic events. Surviving are her 13 children, Thomas Dikos (Robin) of Swartz Creek, Lawrence Dikos (Sally) of Lennon, Michael Dikos (Barbara) of Swartz Creek, Jerome Dikos of Flint, Lois Lamerato (David) of Dearborn Heights, James Dikos (Renee) of Swartz Creek, Deborah Kilbourn (Gregory) of Owosso, Gregory Dikos (Sally) of Granger, IN, Joseph Dikos of Novi, Timothy Dikos (Michelle) of Flushing, Robert Dikos (Pamela) of Flushing, Jeffrey Dikos of Swartz Creek, Mary McLemore (William) of Palm Harbor, FL, 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.
