Ella Mae HALKA

HALKA, Ella Mae -- Age 80, of Swartz Creek, died June 25, 2013 at her residence. Funeral service will be held 5:00 PM Saturday June 29 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Lawrence Gill officiating. Visitation will be held 5 - 9 PM Thursday, 1- 9 PM Friday, and 4 PM until the time of service on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene to benefit their kitchen or playground. Ella Mae was born November 27, 1932 in Rankin the daughter of Willis and Carletta (Putnam) Henry. She married Donald George Halka on October 1, 1955 in Rankin; he preceded her in death on March 3, 2009. She was a lifetime resident of Genesee County, graduating from Mary Crapo High School in 1950. Ella was a Secretary for Carmen Ainsworth Schools for 25 years retiring in 1992. She was a "People Person", liked to cook, and was also an avid bowler. She was a member of Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene, a volunteer at Camp 911, and worked the local elections. Surviving are: Daughter, Lorraine (Michael) Ahearne of Swartz Creek; 3 grandsons, Canaan Halka, Tyler Halka and Nolan Ahearne; 10 brothers, Earl (Roberta) Henry, Pat (Chris) Henry, Tom (Sharon) Henry, Bill (Doris) Henry, Walt (Therese) Henry, Don (Parna) Henry, Ted (Jennifer) Henry, Doug (Linda) Henry, Rick (Joan) Henry, Randy (Tami) Henry; sisters-in-law: Kim (Jim) Anderson, Vera Halka, Marion Horak and Mildred Brian. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald George Halka; son, Donald John Halka; sister, Bonnie Baker; 2 brothers, Jack and George Henry.
