LAWSON, Elnora (Saltzman) - age 93, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019. Private committal services will be held 1 PM Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Ellie was born in Essex, Mo. on May 27, 1926 to Fred and Florence (Wilkerson) Saltzman. She came to Flint in 1946 and worked at GM Parts Division until retiring in 1982. Ellie and Gordon L. Lawson were married on Jan. 15, 1949. They had two children, Janet (Mark) Klein and Robert Lawson. Grandchildren include Jenna (Joe) Duplanty, Marissa Klein, Rob Klein and Rory Lawson. Also, two great-grandsons, Nathanial and Noah. Ellie gave time and support to about 20 charities. She volunteered with the McLaren Auxiliary and was a McLaren Foundation member. She donated to conservation causes, veterans groups and cultural organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars, Flint Youth Theatre and the National Wildlife Federation. Ellie and Gordon traveled frequently during retirement. In addition to organized tour vacations, they visited family and friends across the United States. Ellie’s grandchildren also brought her great joy. She was always home for birthdays, Christmas and special occasions. She led a truly blessed and fulfilled life.
