LAND, Elva Louise - Age 104, died Thursday, May 16, 2013. Eva was born to Herbert and Violet (Sisson) Fry 7/31/1908 in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. She had 6 sisters and 2 brothers, three who are still living in Canada. She moved to Flint 4/1927; married Jay Land 3/1/1930. He died in 1959. Two children preceded Elva in death - Evelyn in 1934 and Danny in 1985. Elva was employed by GM at AC for 36 years, retiring in 1971. She became a US citizen in 1947. Her nephew and wife, Jack and Maria Fry have continued to be supportive and helpful with her care and whatever she needed or requested throughout her later years. Elva liked to knit and crochet until Macular Degeneration caused her to stop due to failing eyesight. In her younger years she was active fishing and hunting with her husband. She also enjoyed watching sports on TV. Elva leaves her nephew, Jack Fry (Maria); sisters, Phyllis Jones, Mary Bain, and Phrona Cooper of Canada; 6 grand daughters, Shelly Langman (FL), Carman Thompson (Flushing), Carleen Campbell (Canada), Acacia, Cathy, Christi Land (OR); great grandchildren and great nephew Lorne Fry.
