Erma Sue Bittinger

Erma Sue Bittinger, age 91, of Swartz Creek passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Brookdale Memory Care of Grand Blanc. A funeral ceremony will take place at 3:00 PM, Monday, September 22, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Paul Holland will preside with the burial following at Flint Memorial Park, Mount Morris. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Monday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, the Swartz Creek Church of Christ or the Alzheimer's Association.

Erma was born on July 21, 1934 in Melber, Kentucky the daughter of the late William and Ora (Austin) Jones. She graduated from Warren High School, class of 1952. Erma and Frederick Bittinger were united in marriage on October 4, 1980 in Swartz Creek. Sadly he preceded her in death on May 1, 1989. She worked for 25 years at the Genesee County Water and Waste Services until her retirement in 1985. Erma was a faithful member of the Swartz Creek Church of Christ and worked three years as their secretary. In her free time she enjoyed time spent with family in addition to sewing, singing, baking and cooking.

She is survived by her children, Sue Warren (Tom London), Clifford "Neil" Copeland (Julie Degroot), Vanessa Parr and Terry (Sherryl) Copeland; 12 grandchildren, Wesley Warren (Susan), Debrina Johnson, Jeri Bell (Andrew Clark), Shannon Warren (Cristie), Jodi Skrudland (Larsi), Shawna LaChapelle, Shasitie Ferris, Steven Wildoner, Brandon Wildoner, Tonia Pierce (Ryan), Tony Parr (Ashley), and Joshua Copeland (Ashley); 26 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frederick; Erma was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Martin Jones; sister, Betty Garland; son-in-law, Jerry Warren; grandson, Johnny Parr Jr; great-great-great grandson, Karson Fleming; and former husband, Clifford Copeland.
