Ernest Lee (Ernie) Allmon

ALLMON, Ernest Lee (Ernie) - Age 85, of Flint Township formerly of La Porte, IN, danced his last dance and passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 in Flint, MI with his family by his side. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be announced at a later date at Round Lake Cemetery, Knox, IN. Those desiring may make contributions in Ernie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ernie was born in Jacksonville, IL on January 18, 1940 to Harry and Willie (Denney) Allmon. In 1941 his family moved to La Porte, IN where he graduated from Stillwell High School in 1960 and was a longtime resident. His proudest accomplishment was working for the State of Indiana at the Westville Correctional Facility for over 29 years, before retiring at the age of 77. He spent 27 years with the love of his life, Ellen Olander. Ernie enjoyed going to the La Porte Slicers ball games with his longtime best friend, Al Stevens and spending his weekend nights cutting a rug on the dance floor where he was best known as "Cowboy". He enjoyed spending time with his sisters teasing them and time with his children and grandchildren. Ernie was a kind and generous man with a heart of gold who always put his family first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are: his sons, Lee (Amanda) Allmon and Steven (Lisa) Allmon; daughters, Lori Allmon-Douglas and Cindy (Kevin) Tyra; sisters, Lola (Tim) Barnhart, Peggy Jordan and Blanche (Bill) Bachmann; He also leaves behind a great legacy to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Willie Allmon; his loving fiancee', Ellen Olander; brother, Harry Allmon; and sister, Myrtle Skinner.
