Ernest Leslie Mecham, age 95, of Linden, passed away on January 27, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A committal service will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Ernest was born on March 29, 1930, in Detroit, one of ten children born to Floyd Mintory and Sadie Inez (Taylor) Mecham. He married Marilou Petersmark on September 25, 1951, in Farmington. Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Before his military service, Ernest worked as a brick mason and later spent 29 years employed at Evans Products. He went on to work for General Motors, retiring in 1993. Ernest had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed bow hunting, rifle hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He was a member of American Legion Post 38.
Ernest is survived by his children: Ernest Leslie (Roberta Gail) Mecham Jr., Bradley Lynn (Elizabeth “Betsy”) Mecham, Suzanne Louise Mecham, and Douglas James (Robin) Mecham; his grandchildren: Angela, Regina, Ernest III, Shane, Tristan, Ashley, and Tara; and his great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Jordyn, Issac, Tyler, Seraya, Lachlen, Avaley, and Clifford; brother, John "Jack" Mecham.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilou, on March 13, 2021, and by his siblings: Floyd Jr., Dick, Becky, Bob, Jim, Sadie, Audrey and Paul.
