RICE, Ernest LaDean - age 92, of Flushing, died, Sunday, January 12, 2020. Funeral service will take place 11 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W Bristol Rd, Flint. Pastor Rob Prince will officiate. Visitation will take place Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and again at the church from 10 AM until the time of service Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Central Church of the Nazarene or the Cardinal Hospice. Ernest was born on December 16, 1927, in Benton, Illinois, son of Ernest and Nova (Holemann) Rice. He graduated from Argo High School. Ernest served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He worked as a master mechanic for Chevrolet Engine for many years. Ernest was a longtime member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his two children, Gregory (Lisa) Rice and Kathy (Kirby) Schneider; four grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Rice, Ryan (Mel) Jory-Heywood, Trevor Rice, Lauren (Jarod) Baumgart and Kim (Chris) Gora; four great-grandchildren, Abby Lee Rice, Mila Gora, McKinley Gora and Moxley Baumgart; and seven brothers and sisters, Jane (John) Vasey, Ester Carmitchel, Dot Randal, Marilyn Farrar, Ella Jean Willard, Linda (Keith) Burba and Keith (Judy) Rice. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife Neta Jane; parents, Ernest and Nova Rice; one brother, Philip Rice, and one sister, Ruth Hayson. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
