Ernest W. Zinger (Ernie) was born on June 20, 1958, in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Ernest E. and Johnnie Irene (Pomroy) Zinger of Ubly, MI. He was the youngest of six children.

Ernie was a 1976 graduate of Ubly High School. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. In 1980, Ernie met his future wife, Corinne, at a party. They were married in August of 1987. Subsequently, they moved to Holly, MI, where he resided until his death on April 25, 2025. His wife, Corinne, preceded him in death in December 2023.

Ernie is survived by his siblings: Charles Zinger (wife, Joanne) of Colleyville, TX; Jon Zinger (wife Sherri) of Tempe, AZ; Lynn McDaniel (husband, Robert) of Marshfield, MO; Mark Zinger (wife, Paula) of Leetsdale, PA. Audean Vatter, of Ubly, MI; and, two stepchildren, John E. Riggi, Jr. of South Lyon, MI. and Debra L. Denny (husband, Danny) also of South Lyon … and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ernie was extremely talented in the use of video technology for media productions. He was a multiple Award-winning video Editor, Director, Technical Director who did freelance corporate and commercial production and post-production work for many Detroit area businesses including General Motors and Domino Farms.

His family remembers him as being soft-spoken, mild-mannered, kind, thoughtful, loving and someone who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Ernie had a keen mind, was fond of playing chess and other mentally challenging games. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his appreciation for nature. He was a devoted animal lover, cherishing every moment spent with his beloved dogs. His dog Emma was his lasting companion. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ernie’s cremated ashes will be interred next to his wife, Corinne, at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Ubly, MI. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the animal rescue of your choice in memory of Ernie.
