KOVACS, Ethel Marie (Lucky) - Age 102, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Saturday, March 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd., Gaines. Visitation will be held 4PM-7PM Friday with a 7PM Rosary being prayed at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Family will also greet friends 9:30AM until time of Mass at the church Saturday. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or Heart to Heart Hospice. Mrs. Kovacs was born in Gaines, Michigan, the daughter of the late Joseph Peter and Julie (Hajgato) Lucky. She married Frank Kovacs in Flint on November 28, 1931 after 61 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 1992. Ethel enjoyed gardening, crocheting and reading. She was known for her Hungarian pastries. Ethel loved to take care and spending time with her family. Surviving are: daughter Barbara (Jim) Norcross of Gaines; daughter-in-law, Carlene Kovacs of FL; grandchildren, Beverly (Steve) Tranchell of Swartz Creek, Daniel (friend Barbara) Kovacs of IN, Karen (Jeff) Young of TX, Mark (Stephanie) Norcross of Belmont, MI, Mary Stoinski of Chesaning, MI, James (Stefany) Norcross Jr. of Lansing; great grandchildren, Julia, Grace, Theodore, Isaac, Eli and Abram. She was also preceded in death by her son Frank Kovacs Jr. in 2011. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, and four brothers.
