Evelyn Ersal PHELPS

PHELPS, Evelyn Ersal - age 94, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Crestmont HealthCare Facility. Memorial service will be held 12 PM Friday, December 6, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint with Deacon Ron Kenney officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet, Fenton. Mrs. Phelps was born July 7, 1919 in Hazelton Twp., MI, the daughter of John Wesley and Ersal (Lyons) Porterfield. She was a 1937 graduate of New Lothrop High School. She married Robert Edgar Phelps on February 10, 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1993. Mrs. Phelps was a member of Lake Fenton United Methodist Church and volunteered at Crestmont Nursing Home. She was an excellent baker and loved cats. Surviving are: son, Roger (Cynthia) Phelps of Swartz Creek; granddaughter, Allison (Garth) Hunt of Swartz Creek; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Claire Evelyn and Brady; sister, Geraldine Terbush of AZ; Many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Ellie Porterfield and Roberta Wood; two brothers, Hubert and Ward Porterfield.
