Fame M. Groves Jones

Fame Groves, longtime resident of Swartz Creek and a vibrant soul who touched countless lives, passed away peacefully at the age of 98. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Fame’s legacy is woven into the hearts of her family and community.

Born in 1927, Fame lived a life rich with passion and creativity. A master gardener, she cultivated beauty in both her gardens and the lives around her. Her love for fashion was evident in her elegant style, and her adventurous spirit took her across the globe, with cherished memories made in Oldsmar, Florida, and Higgins Lake, Michigan, surrounded by family. Fame was an avid card player, delighting in bridge, euchre, and pinochle, where her competitive spirit, quick wit and laughter lit up the table.

An award-winning photographer, Fame captured the world’s beauty through her lens, and as a ballroom dancer, she moved with grace and joy. Her pride in her family’s service was profound; both of her late husbands served in World War II, and all three of her sons—Terry, Michael, and John—served in the Army, a legacy she held dear.

Fame is survived by her son, Terry, and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her love and zest for life. She was predeceased in death by her beloved daughter, Janice, and sons, Michael and John.

Fame’s life was a tapestry of love, creativity, and connection. Her memory will bloom eternally in the hearts of those who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473. a small luncheon will follow the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Swartz Creek American Legion Honor Guard, 3440 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473.
