SURMANN, Ferdinand Peter - Age 91, of Fenton, died August 30, 2013. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Dwight Ezop celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to Right To Life or Special Olympics. Ferdinand was born January 2, 1922 in Cologne, Germany, the son of Henry John and Elizabeth Ann (Bosen) Surmann. Mr Surmann was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was married to Anne Byrne on February 20, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY. In 1984 he retired from the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command, where he worked as an accountant for over 20 years. Mr. Surmann was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lifetime member of VFW Post #1519 in Livonia and was a past member of Fornage Choral Group. Surviving are: wife, Anne; children, Christopher (Alyce), Peter (Lynn), Elizabeth (Robert) Dodt, Anne Harpe, Teresa Montana, Edward (Sarah), Eric (Heather), Maureen (Jerry) Gergel; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
