Florence Sortman

SORTMAN, Florence Mabel - Age 88, of Fenton, died August 7, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 12 at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 14176 Fenton Rd., Fenton, Dr. Mark Fisher officiating. Committal services 1 PM Tuesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton; and 10-11 AM at the church on Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to Transfiguration Lutheran Church. She was born November 30, 1925 in Gaines Township the daughter of Mahlon and Mabel (Ingram) Wise. She married John Sortman on May 25, 1946 in Flint; he preceded her in death May 28, 2007. She was a graduate of Fenton High School. She had worked for Fenton Schools for 25 years. She was a member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church, and the Fenton O.E.S. Mrs. Sortman is survived by: three children, Raymond (Karen) Sortman of Kalamazoo, Jacqueline Williams of Fenton, John Sortman of Grand Blanc; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister June Wise Miller of Linden; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ron, William, Charles, Leo, and Harold; and sisters, Rose Ann, Edith, Dorothy, Alberta and Irene.
