GAINER, Floyd A. - age 97, of Linden, formerly of Birch Run, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Crestmont Health Care. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, February 25, 2013 at St. Francis and Clare Parish, 12157 Church St., Birch Run, MI with Fr. Thomas McNamara celebrant. Interment will follow at Birch Run Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 AM until time of mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet, Fenton. He was the great-grandson of pioneer settlers of Thetford Twp in Genesee County, he was born in Flint on July 12, 1916 to Abel and Tressie (Williams) Gainer. Floyd grew up in Flint sand then on his grandfather's farm in Birch Run. He rode his horse to school in Clio where he graduated in 1934. He married Cecilia Reich on September 7, 1940 and she preceded him in death on July 28, 1984. He then married Harriet Walker in 1987 and she preceded him in death on April 25, 1994. In his younger years, Floyd was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time on his boat on Saginaw Bay. Floyd was a supervisor at AC Spark Plug in Flint and retired in 1974. Surviving are: daughter, Joyce McClintock of Linden; grandson, Brian McClintock of Linden; great-grandson, Ryan Morey of Linden; two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
