Floyd Edward "Huss" Nelson

NELSON, Floyd Edward "Huss" - Age 87, of Byron, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 1, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Floyd's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Burial in Byron Cemetery, Byron. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Floyd was born January 28, 1938 in Riverdale, AR, the son of Charles and Agnes (Melvin) Nelson. He married Mary Ada McPherson November 22, 1958 in Ortonville and she preceded him in death October 29, 2024. He has resided in Byron for the past 50 years. Floyd worked in the lumber industry for many years, retiring from St. Charles Hardwood's in St. Charles as the Head Sawyer. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Floyd loved his family and loved to laugh and fellowship with friends.

Surviving are: his children, Carl Huffman of Flint, Jim (Becky) Nelson of Gaines, Donald (Noreen) Nelson of Byron and Cindy (Dave) Warden of Byron; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Nelson; and 8 siblings. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Living Joy Assisted Living of Flushing, as well as PACE of Flint for the loving care given to their father.
