NOVAK, Floyd R. Age 82, of Swartz Creek, passed away, Sunday, January 6, 2013. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with Fr. Phillip Schweda celebrating. Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Friday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. A Knight of Columbus memorial service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 7:00 PM, followed by a 4th Degree Chalice service. Those desiring may make contribution to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or to the Knights of Columbus Singing Knights. Floyd was born August 29, 1930 in Flint, the son of Jacob and Catherine (Lobodzinsk) Novak. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Flint. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He married Dolores Jagielnik September 26, 1953 at All Saints Catholic Church in Flint, she preceded him in death December 24, 2009. Floyd owned and operated Eastside Upholstery in Flint, starting the business when he was 16 years old. He retired in 1987 from Buick Motor Divison as Assistant Superintendent of factory 17 after 35 years of service. He attended St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and was a former member of Blessed Sacrament in Flint. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus Davison Council #4090, Arden Dubie Assembly #0523 Davison, and the Knights of Columbus Singing Knights. Surviving are: 3 children, Lawrence and wife Angela Novak of Flushing, Patricia and husband Clint Carlson of Swartz Creek, and Scott Novak of Jackson; 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Madison, Skylar, Mitchell, Nicholas, Hailey, Jacob, and Abigail; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Florence James of Gladwin; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Eugene and Harry Novak; sister-in-law, Lorraine Novak; and brother-in-law, Robert James.
