Frances Elizabeth “Fran” Goode, 79, of Swartz Creek, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Born November 14, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Thelbert “Les” and Wilma (Hendren) Hogard.
Fran graduated from Genesee High School, where she cheered and took part in school plays. It was at a high‑school basketball game that she met Roney Dale Goode; they were married October 3, 1964, at Hopewell General Baptist Church in Flint. The couple raised three children and made their home in the Swartz Creek area since 1981, after moving from Clio.
A devoted mother and loving friend, Fran’s life was defined by her care for family, a generous spirit, and a warm welcome for friends she considered family. She spent countless hours researching family history and sharing stories. She was always cheering on the Detroit Tigers. Fran’s home was a gathering place full of laughter, hospitality, and unconditional love.
Survivors include her children Tina (Michael) Bigelow of Swartz Creek, Terry (Debbie) Goode of Columbiaville, and Tracy (Matthew) Doane of Fenton; grandchildren T.J. Goode, Lillie and Frances Bigelow, and Fisher and Roni Doane; lifelong friend Rita (Bigelow) MacDonell of Lake Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelbert 'Les' and Wilma Hogard, and brothers Doyne Scott, Ronald Hogard, and Dale Hogard.
She was preceded in her death by her parents as well as her husband Roney Dale Goode in 2008.
Services will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation is Monday, April 13, from 1:00 PM until the 6:00 PM funeral service, with Deacon Ron Kenney officiating; the service will be livestreamed via Frances’s obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 15, at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Rott Rescue or Michigan Animal Rescue League, 790 Featherstone Road, Pontiac, MI 48342.
