Guzak, Dave born Franklin David Guzak on March 31st, 1943, in Flint Mi., passed away at home on Tuesday May 6, 2025 at the age of 82. Dave was married to his wife Mary (Hankerd) Guzak for 57 years. They had four children and two grandchildren, Benjamin Guzak (Wife Mary J. Guzak), Jacob Guzak, Damien Guzak (deceased), Libby (Guzak) Wood (Husband Paul Wood), granddaughters Gabby Guzak and Zoe Guzak, and extra-special great-nephew Jonathon Varner. Dave was an educator in Flint Community Schools for 35 years. He worked as a teacher, counselor, and assistant principal of Whittier Middle School, Northwestern High School, and Northern High School. Dave had two master’s degrees in education and counseling. He had a great respect for education and mentored and guided many people through their educational journeys. Dave was one of nine children born to Maxine and Anthony Guzak. He is survived by Jon (Paula) Guzak and preceded in death by Anthony Guzak, Maxine Guzak, Marsha Brooks, Tommy Guzak, Mary Graham, Susan Versailles, Rebecca Varner, Maggie Schaffer, Jimmy Guzak and son Damien Guzak. Dave had close relationships with in-laws Betty and Lester (deceased) Tomei, Robert and Mary Hankerd, and Patrick and Mary Hankerd. He had 48 nieces and nephews, some deceased, who he loved dearly. As well as many close friendship relationships that he valued as much as his familial relationships, especially those who he referred to as the HR7. Dave was a special guy to so many people and he was always working to make a difference in people's lives. A Memorial Mass will take place 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, 701 Church St. Flint, MI 48502 with Fr. Anthony Strouse as celebrant. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 6 at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and again from 12:00 PM until the time of service Saturday at church. On Friday evening at 7:00 PM the family and parish will gather to pray the rosary at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Catholic Charities-Center for Hope, 812 Root St. Flint, 48503 or Gentiva Foundation-Heartland Hospice, 3350 Riverwood Parkway SE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30331.
