Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, charity or organization of their choice.
Gary was born on September 5, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Steve and Dolores (Shustock) Hajek. A veteran of the United States Army, he served as Military Police during the Vietnam War. On Friday, April 13, 1984, he married Melinda S. Elmore, beginning a special journey together that would span more than four decades.
Gary retired from General Motors after 42 years of dedicated service as a proud UAW member. He enjoyed fishing and playing Euchre, both of which cultivated many wonderful friendships. Gary was a talented welder and had a gift for turning other peoples trash into unique, whimsical “junk art” treasures. He also had a knack for fixing almost anything and if you needed a part or a tool, he probably had six of them. He was always ready and willing to lend a hand, answering countless calls over the years, simply saying “I’m on my way”.
He leaves behind his wife, Melinda; daughters, Randalynn Hajek (Adam) and Kelsey Hajek; grand dogs, Quick and Maverick, grand horse, Moose; siblings, David (Nancy) Hajek, Daniel (Kerrie) Hajek, and Christine (David) Keene; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, very special neighbors and dear friends, who already miss him.
