MAES, Gary Lee - Age 67, of Flint, formerly of Grand Blanc and Fenton, passed away on April 16, 2026. A Celebration of Gary's Life will take place from 4:00PM-6:00PM Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Cobblestone Bar & Grill 7490 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc. Cremation arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Contributions in Gary's memory would be appreciated to The Old Newsboys of Flint.
Gary was born November 26, 1958, in Antigo, WI, the son of Larry Lee and Lola Mae (Staffne) Maes. Gary graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1976. He retired in 2019 as an Overhead Crane Operator with GM after many years of service. Gary was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. Gary also was part of the Old Newsboys of Flint and The Knights of Columbus. He was a soccer coach with Fenton AYSO and a "#1 Cheer Dad!"
Gary is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Robert Balint) Maes, of Sarasota, FL, and Elizabeth (Erin) McGowen, of Howell; their mother. Debra (Cox) Maes; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Lola Mae Maes; girlfriend, Nancy Lincoln, and her daughter, JoLee; siblings, Deborah Lopez, Allen Maes, Phyllis VanEtten, and Leann Maes.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lee Maes and his nephew, Christopher VanEttan. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
