Gary Wayne Owens

OWENS, Gary Wayne - age 76, formerly of Byron, died March 26, 2025. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, MI 48451. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Gary was born May 14, 1948 in Flint, the son of Wayne and Evelyn (Hoover) Owens. He married Janell R. Robertson in Durand on May 4, 1968. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 5th Infantry during the Vietnam War where received many ribbons and medals, including two Bronze Stars. He retired from General Motors. Gary loved to sing in competitions, at bars and for weddings. He was a avid sports fan and outdoors man. Gary was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 17 years. Surviving are: Janell Owens; daughter, Raedawn (Donald) Cardiff; son, Adam (Jennifer) Owens; grandchildren, Garrett (Kate) Kittle, Miranda (Spencer) Williams, Kasmine (Emmanuel) Johnson, Tyraeya Collins, Nicholas Owens, Marshall Autrey and Wyatt Autrey; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Seth Meacham, Sandra Florkowski, Melvin Owens and Wayne (Janna) Owens; many nieces and nephews.
