Gaynell Graves

December 5, 1931 — October 1, 2025

Mount Morris

Gaynell Graves - Age 93, of Mount Morris, died October 1, 2025. A private Committal Service will be held October 22nd, 12:30 PM, at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI.

Gaynell was born December 5, 1931, in Gladstone, Michigan, the daughter of Gale and Adeline (Nehmer) Haner. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Scott Graves and Gale (Cheryl) Graves; siblings John (Pattie) Haner and Jeanine Hewitt; 4 grandchildren, Lauren (Todd) Soulier, Andrew Graves, Christopher Graves, and Courtney (Richie) Bachala; and 1 great grandchild, Cayson Graves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Graves.

Gaynell was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Auntie. She married the love of her life, Harry Graves, June 5th, 1954, in Flint Michigan where they raised their 2 sons, Scott and Gale. She was a faithful member of Calvary Lutheran Church most of her life and exemplified the love of Jesus to those around her, placing the needs of others above her own. Mom loved spending time with her family, always baking and cooking special dinners and treats. She loved knitting and crocheting, creating amazing Christmas stockings and table doilies for her family and many other friends. Gaynell and Harry enjoyed their trips to the UP, walking the Big Mac Bridge with their best friends every Labor Day. She was genuinely interested in the events and lives of her children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Auntie. Her legacy will live in our hearts as a beautiful example of love, faith, and grace.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Majestic Care of Flushing, Heart to Heart Hospice (Jenny), and Rachel, who provided loving care for Gaynell.
