Gene Raymond Carpenter, age 88 of Flint Township, went to be with the Lord, with his family by his side, on April 11, 2026. A Celebration of Gene's Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 20, 2026 at the Trinity Assembly of God located at 4363 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan 48458 with Pastors Bill Christensen and Rob King and Bill officiating. Visitation will be at the Trinity Assembly of God Church on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM and on Monday, 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Mr. Carpenter will be laid to rest, with military honors rendered, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2:30 PM Monday April 20, 2026. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gene to Christians United for Israel (www.cufi.org) or Trinity Assembly of God (www.trinitymm.com).
Gene was born on January 1, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late Raymond Arthur and Helen Wilhelmina (Minke) Carpenter. He graduated from Flint Central High School before receiving his associate's degree from Mott Community College. Gene proudly served our country with the United States Air Force before marrying Mary Elizabeth "Maribeth" Maloney on April 23, 1971 in Flint, Michigan. He enjoyed a 30 year career as a Computer Systems Engineer with IBM before retiring in 1992. Gene was a strong man of faith, member of Trinity Assembly of God and he also worked the God Mobile for several years.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 55 years, Maribeth. Children, Tracy Leigh LaBrecque of Wilmington, NC; Tamara Lynn (Jeff Ward) Delaney of Villages, FL; Damon Allen (Jamie) Carpenter of Ten Mile, TN; Matthew Gene Carpenter of Sparta; Kevin Earl (Kelly Meyer of Detroit). Daughter-in-law; Ramona Meyer of Flint. Grandchildren, Adam, Brendan, Justin, Kelly, Zachary, Spencer, Rachel, Esther, Abigail & Avery. Great-Grandchildren, Jayne, Emmett and Gideon.
Gene will be welcomed into Heaven by his parents, brother, Dallas Charles Carpenter and granddaughter, Payton Jayne Carpenter.
