George Drury

DRURY, George E. "Pete"- Age 84, died in the comfort of his wife of over 58 years, Barbara and his children, Dennis, Douglas, David, and Donna on December 30, 2016. Funeral divine liturgy will take place 10:30 AM Wednesday January 4, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 Elms Rd, Flushing. The Very Rev. Fr. David A. Hannas pastor. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday and 2-8 pm Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and again from 9:30 AM until the time of divine liturgy at the church. Pananchida will take place 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pete was a native of Flint where he graduated from Central High School after starring as a middle distance runner on the Central track team. After high school, Pete enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and served his country with pride. After Pete's military duty, he returned to Flint where he met his wife and life long partner at Fisher Body Turnstead where they were both employed. Pete and Barb were married on July 5, 1958. Pete and Barb raised their four children, Dennis, Douglas, David, and Donna in the family home in Burton where Pete and Barb lived until retirement from General Motors/EDS. After years of summers in Burton and winters in Tucson, AZ and Santa Maria, California, Pete and Barb moved to Swartz Creek. Pete is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Drury of Swartz Creek; children, Dennis (Carolina) of Northville, Douglas (fiancee, Raquel Rowan) of Arroyo Grande, CA, David (Sharlene) of Swartz Creek, and Donna (Oscar) of Tuscon, AZ; grandchildren, David, Daniela, Ryan, John, Ariana, Joseph Rowan, Erin, Lidia, Lorenzo, Andrew, Lucas, Kyle and Carmen; brother, Alex of Tuscon, AZ and sister Mary Lou of Des Moines, Iowa. Pete was preceded in death by brothers, William and James and sister, Doris. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
