COAD, Gerald Robert - age 85, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Medilodge of Montrose. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 3, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Thursday and 10 AM until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Coad was born August 25, 1927 in Flint, the son of Woodworth Robert James and Hazel Ellen (Down) Coad. He attended of Flushing High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Mr. Coad retired from General Motors in 1994 after 42 years of service. He had resided in Genesee County his entire life and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Surviving are: wife, Shirley Coad; two sons, Doyle R. (Helen) Coad of Lennon, Richard C. Coad of Swartz Creek; daughter, Geraldine R. (Jan) Wood of Swartz Creek; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Vera J.
