SCHMIDT, Gerald "Gerry"- age 86, of Fenton, passed away November 29, 2025. Cremation has taken place and a Committal Service with Military Honors will take place in the Spring of 2026 at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Gerry was born June 15, 1939, in Neillsville, WI, the son of Gerald Cletus and Frances Barbara (Wolf) Schmidt. He married Mary Ann Zastrow in Sheboygan, WI on November 17, 1962. Gerry graduated from Neillsville High School In 1957. He later attended St. Norbert College and graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with his bachelor's degree. Gerry entered the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Captain. He was stationed at McChord AFB and Selfridge AFB. Gerry proudly served in the Air Force for 5 years. Next, he worked as Senior Manager of Operations with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Later he developed G.W.S. Computer Services in Fenton. Gerry was a member of the American Legion and served as the President of The Hartland Chamber of Commerce. He also was a Scout Master with The Boy Scouts of America. Gerry's hobbies include camping, traveling, and fishing. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Fix-it!"

Gerry is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Andrew Schmidt, and Jeffrey (Patti) Schmidt; grandchildren, Tracy (Emily) Schmidt, Jeffrey Schmidt, Tara Schmidt, and Joseph Schmidt; two great grandchildren, Hannah and Harper Schmidt; his sister, Susan (Tim) Wells; and a niece and nephew. Gerry's family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff at Vicinia Gardens and The Medical Team Hospice for the excellent care provided for Gerry.

Gerry was preceded in death by his son, David Schmidt; his parents, Gerald and Frances Schmidt; his brothers, Brian and Lee Schmidt and a nephew Jason Schmidt. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
