Gerald Marvin McMILLIN

McMILLIN, Gerald Marvin -- Age 84, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, September 28, 2012. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, October 1, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Sunday, and 12-1 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice. Mr. McMillin was born October 23, 1927 in Rector, Arkansas. He worked for General Motors (Turnstead Plant) for 30 years, retiring on February 1, 1985. He married Ruth Tottingham on May 3, 1986 and they resided in the Swartz Creek area. He enjoyed playing gospel and country western music on his steel guitar. He liked staying busy and worked hard at the things important to him. He had a great sense for business and taught his family strong work ethics. For many years he also enjoyed their home in Florida, where they had many close friends and great times. Mr. McMillin is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Jerry (Pam) McMillin of Lennon; daughters, Sandy Nolen of Lennon, Marcia (Frank) Grace of Flushing; daughters-in-law, Dortha McMillin of Harrison, Cindy McMillin of Clio; stepdaughters, Linda Tirrell of Lansing and Sandy (Neal) Pettit of MO; 17 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
