Gerald Voorheis

VOORHEIS, Gerald Henry - Age 78, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, February 24, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Darrell Foltz officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc Building Fund. Gerald was born June 12, 1938 in Flint the son of Henry and Wilma (Kirby) Voorheis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Elizabeth Louise Cooley December 5, 1964 in Grand Blanc and she preceded him in death April 1, 2016. He retired from GM Fisher Body Grand Blanc Tank Plant. Gerald was a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc and the U.A.W. Surviving are: his children, Victoria (Doug) McIntyre of Burt, Valerie (Richard) Wise of Grayling, Mary (Terry) Carsten of Linden, Monica (Channing) Teed of Flint, and David (Robin Hannahs) of Beaverton; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura; granddaughter, Nikole Mitchell; and sister, Lila Mills.
