Gilbert G. Lopez

LOPEZ, Gilbert G.  Age 63, of Flint, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Monday and 1-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society. Mr. Lopez was born November 12, 1940 in San Antonio, TX, the son of Guadalupe and Saturnina (Cabral) Lopez. He married Sheila Woodcock in Flint. Mr. Lopez was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a member of the first crew aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk CVA #63. He was an electrician at General Motors Grand Blanc Metal Fab. for 40 years where he was also a member of the Fire Brigade. Mr. Lopez enjoyed showing German Shepard and Bloodhound dogs at dog shows. He also was well known for his love of his computer and surround sound entertainment center. Surviving are: wife, Sheila; eight children, Richard, Tony, Jeffrey Lopez, Pamela (Mark) Maki, Madalyn (Paul) Hoover, Shannon (Joseph) Messer, Deidre (Michael) Tyler, Jillian Lopez; seven grandchildren; brother, Julian (Lydia) Cruz; sister, Maria LeRoy; five nieces; two nephews; his German Shepard, Pepper.
