Gladys Marie WRIGHT

WRIGHT, Gladys Marie (Bays) (Stowers) - age 86, of Flushing, went to be with Jesus, Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Gentiva Hospice, Linden Road, Flint, MI. Special thanks to the "crew" for their tender love and care while taking such good care of her. Family will receive visitors from 5 PM to 9 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint 48507. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Special friend, Raymond Hetzer will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service. A special service will take place sometime next year in Hamlin, W. Va. at her childhood church. Mrs. Wright was born November 29, 1926, the 11th of 12 children born in Hamlin, W. Va, and was the daughter of the late James (Big Jim) and Rhoda Bays. Gladys graduated from Ashland High School, Ashland, KY. Gladys lived a short time in Tacoma, Washington, but most of her life was spent in Flushing, MI. She was a stay at home mother where she raised 6 children. She was an avid seamstress, quilter, gardener, giver and a great cook. She was assistant cook for 17 years at Maybee Camp in Monroe, MI and Napoleon Camp in Napoleon, MI. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her 1st husband, Don D. Stowers and 2nd husband, Preston S. Wright, and son, James D. Stowers, son-in-law, Gary E. Garrison. Siblings, Rex, Claude, Crosby, James, Ima, Ruby, Minnie, Nell and Eleanor. Surviving are children, Tamera L. Garrison of Grand Blanc, Deborah L. Russell (Michael) of Joelton, TN, Timothy Wright of Flushing, Jeffery Wright (Dena) of Cedar Springs, Lisa Stearns (Douglas) of Flushing. Grandchildren, Kim Garrison Toporek of Goodrich, Heidi Molyneux of Flushing, Michelle Anglea (Lee) of Joelton, TN, Stephen Wright (Amy) of Richmond, KY, Matthew Wright of Erlanger, KY, Sarah Winebrenner (Andrew) of Cincinnati, OH, Nathan Wright (Lacey) of Cedar Springs, Katherine Ash (Everett) of Boca Raton, FL, Holly Williams of Flint. Great grandchildren are: Jessica and Joseph Toporek, Lauren, Megan, Maia, Faith & Hunter Molyneux, Courtney & Catherine Anglea, Abigail, Mitchell, Haden, Boston, Tatum, Kayda & Avalon Wright. Surviving sisters are Irene Chadwick (Charles) of Ormond Beach, FL and Judy Riffe of Flagler Beach, FL and many nieces, nephews & cousins throughout the country. Those desiring may make contributions in Gladys' memory to Food for the Hungry (FH.org). She was really concerned about people not having access to fresh drinking water.
