Gloria Dawn Sleep

Nov 15, 1934 — May 17, 2026

Linden

Gloria Dawn Sleep left this earthly plane May 17, 2026, in Linden, Michigan. She was born November 15, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Alice Mitchell. In 1964 Gloria and Paul B. Sleep were wed, and began their over 60 year adventure together.

Gloria was a talented artist. Over the years she expressed her creative side through stained glass, cross stitch, embroidery, and quilting. Her hobbies included horse riding and raising Arabian horses with Paul. Gloria and Paul retired to Chatsworth, Georgia. They resided there for 26 years enjoying the mountain view, hummingbirds and warm weather. She could often be found outside tending to her flowers.

Gloria and Paul returned to Michigan 3 years ago and have been enjoying spending time with their grandchildren Rhonda Carr (Craig Woodley), Paul (Katie) Carr, Cory Carr, great grandchildren Alexxis Woodley, Felicity Woodley, Kai Kenny-Backhaus, Adelia Carr, Payton Carr, Trinity Woodley, Lucas Carr, Cadence Woodley, and Emmett Carr. Gloria loved spending time with her siblings Nancy Sahutske, Blanche Hayward, and Steward Mitchell, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

She deeply missed those that preceded her in death, daughter Susan Carr, Son in law James Carr, brothers Charles (Dempsey) Mitchell, Craig Mitchell, Joey Mitchell, Neil Mitchell, and sister Sharlene Keipinger.

Gloria was a fiercely independent woman who often freely shared her opinion. When her mind was made up she could really stick to her guns. Shhh, that is a secret, she would deny every bit of it. Her feisty personality never faded, it only grew bigger with time. She loved deeply and was loved dearly.

A special thanks to those that have cared for Gloria these past few years. You made a huge impact on her life and the family. We deeply appreciate you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
