Greg Spodney

Gregory (Greg) Spodney- Age 62, of Hartland, Wisconsin, formerly of Swartz Creek, Michigan, passed away on August 6, 2026. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church- 4413 Morrish Rd, Swartz Creek, MI, with burial to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, from 1PM - 8PM, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with a rosary being prayed at 7PM. Visitation will take place again at 9AM until the time of Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Greg was born on August 4, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Stevenson (Bud) Spodney Jr. and Carol (Wesley) Spodney. Greg was a 1982 graduate of Swartz Creek High School, where he played on the school's football and baseball team. He was a huge football fan, specifically Ohio State and LSU, and was a proud shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. His passion for sports continued throughout his life. He was a long-time employee at Spalding. He also coached baseball at St. Mary and Powers Catholic High School and basketball at Lake Fenton High School. He loved being outside and enjoyed snowmobiling, riding side-by-sides, waterskiing, and pulling his nieces and nephew behind his treasured Ski Nautique.

Greg is survived by his siblings Laura (Tom) Sylvester, Matt Spodney and Neil Spodney; nieces and nephew Peyton Spodney, Austin Spodney and Samantha Spodney; aunt Helen Cookingham; uncle Dean Wesley; many cousins and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Stevenson (Bud) Spodney Jr. and Carol (Wesley) Spodney; and brother Steven Spodney.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Greg.
