Gregory A. Moran

Feb 27, 1946 — Jun 20, 2026

Clarkston, formerly of Davison

Gregory “Greg” Arthur Moran died on June 20, 2026, with his wife of 28 years, Shirley, by his side. Greg and Shirley made their home in Davison, Michigan, for 28 years before recently moving to Clarkston for assisted living as his health declined. Born in East Bournemouth, England, on February 27, 1946, he was the son of William Edward Moran and Marjorie Rose Burcham. William and Marjorie met and married following World War II.

He grew up in Waterford and graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1965. Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Thailand for two years during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he served as Sergeant Loadmaster. After completing his service, he returned to Waterford, MI, where he joined General Motors, working in their Waterford Service Parts Operation Center. He remained with GM until his retirement in 2007.

For recreation, growing up Greg enjoyed hunting with his brother with both bow and rifle. As an adult Greg was an avid golfer and participated in many summer leagues. He loved classic cars (especially GTO’s and Corvettes) and owned several throughout his life. He also enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Detroit Tigers, remaining a loyal fan even during their toughest seasons. Greg regularly attended the annual Autorama event, a tradition he looked forward to most years.

Greg was the middle of three children, with a brother, Robert William Moran, who is 82, and a sister, Arlene Jean Gonzalez. Both his parents and his sister preceded him in death.

Greg was first married to his wife Pat; who passed away from cancer. He met the love of his life, Shirley, in 1997. On February 28, 1998, they were married at the University of Michigan-Flint campus. They celebrated 28 years together this past February. Together, they enjoyed traveling, with some of their most memorable trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Their favorite local getaway was visiting Port Huron, packing a picnic lunch, and watching the boats travel up and down the Black River.

Greg leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished family memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his stepchildren, Scott Harris (Amy) and Carrie Knapp (Joseph); and his brother, Pastor Robert (Bob) Moran (Vera). He will also be lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren-Chloe Talbot (Ian), Graeme Harris (Kristin), Rilee Lawless (Kyle), Sydnee Keucken, Zachary Knapp (Kerolay), Adrienne Meyer (James), Ian Knapp (Mekenna), Ashley Kraft (Casey), and Jackson Knapp-and his nine great-grandchildren: Hugo Talbot, Aiden Meyer, Emily Meyer, Isabella Knapp, Olivia Knapp, Bentley Kraft, Blain Kraft, Mavrik Knapp, and Calvin Knapp.

A memorial service will be held 12 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI.
