Guy Andrew Rogers, known as “Andrew,” passed away peacefully at his home in Fenton, Michigan, on November 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann Rogers and Guy Vincent Rogers, and older brother, Ronald V. Rogers. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 03, 1951. He is survived by his sister, Janet Marie Rogers, Orange Park, Florida; niece, Cindy Maloney, Citrus Heights, California; nephew, Scott Rogers, Orangevale, California; nephew, Ronald Rogers, Selma, California; and a number of cousins across the country.
Andrew was drawn to music at a very young age. His family had a stack of 78 rpm records and an RCA phonograph, that at the age of twelve months, Andrew would pick out the records, play them, and return them carefully back into their folders. He played the accordion at the age of seven and appeared in black and white on a TV talent show called “Stairway to the Stars.” At the age of eight, he heard his sister singing Ave Maria in church, started to giggle, and said out loud for all to hear, you’re off key!
Music was his love and sanctuary for all of his 74 years. He may not have played the harp, but he was his family’s angel. His ear for music was phenomenal, and his kind and gentle soul a gift for all seasons.
For many years, Andrew was a treasured member of the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His artistry, generosity, and unmistakable presence brought joy to thousands. His performances on the historic Barton Organ were nothing short of magical, filling the auditorium with warmth, brilliance, and heart. Andy’s talent was matched only by his kindness. He made every person he met feel welcome, and he treated every performance as a gift to the community he loved.
Beyond the Michigan Theater, Andrew’s musical journey took him around the world. He performed and lectured internationally, scored and accompanied silent films, and shared his passion for music with audiences near and far. He worked for 17 years in accounting at a travel agency, dedicated three decades of service to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Churches in Saginaw and Dearborn, and served on the Board of the Foundation for Global Harmony as a member of Japan’s Global Harmony Band.
Andrew leaves behind a legacy of art, service, and compassion that touched many by his music and spirit.
A memorial celebration of his life and legacy will be planned at a later date.
The Michigan Theater was Andrew’s “home,” and his family thanks the entire staff for giving him his place to shine!! To carry on his legacy, donations in memory of Andrew can be made to the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
