Harry Dennis McCALLISTER

McCALLISTER, Harry Dennis - age 61, of Flint, died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Swartz Creek Church of Christ, 4410 Seymour Rd., Swartz Creek with Minister David Paher officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, 2-5 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will also be held 10 AM until the time of service Thursday at the church. Contributions may be made to the Veterans Hospital of Ann Arbor or the Disabled American Veterans. Harry was born August 2, 1951 to Harry McCallister and Rose Kerr. Harry graduated from Carmen High school in 1969. He joined the US Naval Reserve October 1969, he remained in the Reserves until October 1970 when he was ordered to active duty where he served as Petty Officer on the USS Midway for two cruises to Vietnam. He was released from active duty November 1972 and returned home to work at AC Spark Plug. Harry returned to active duty May 1974 and served on various ships at many different ports. He served his country for 23 years. Surviving are: wife, Raquel of Flint; daughter, Kimberly (Andrew) Shoup of Lansing; granddaughter, Alexa Rose; grandson, James Andrew of Lansing; mother, Rose McCallister of Flint; sister, Cheryl (Dennis) Mince of Swartz Creek; sister, Jennifer (Jerry) Marsich of Durand. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Harry was preceded in death by his father.
