Henry Dale Heidel

Heidel, Henry "Hank" D. - age 89 of Swartz Creek, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2026 at The Salvation Army Citadel located at 211 W. Kearsley Street, Flint, Michigan 48502. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM at The Salvation Army until the time of service. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Hank's memory to The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Songsters.

Henry Dale Heidel was born on May 30, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to the late Henry and Dorothy Bell (Brown) Heidel. He served our country with the United States Navy and following his honorable discharge, worked as an Engineer for General Motors. Hank was a very active member of The Salvation Army Church in Flint. He played Baritone in the brass band, sang in the choir, served as the church treasurer, and was a volunteer canteen driver. Hank also enjoyed hobby trains. He had an extensive train collection including both indoor and outdoor train layouts!

He is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann (David) Thal. Grandchildren, Duncan (Dakota) Smith; Tyler (Kevin) Dick; Casey (Austin) Verville. Great-Grandchildren, Averie; Greyson; Miles; Vivienne. Son-in-law, Scott Smith. Siblings, Gary (Myra) Heidel; Dennis (Shelia) Heidel; Cheryl (Bruce) Black. Nephew, David (Jayne) Bell; Niece, Ruth Gibbons; Nephew, Jon Bell. Great-nephews, Eric (Lisa) Bell; Andrew (Beth) Bell; Dan (Lisa) Bell; Christopher (Heather) Bell. Hank will also be missed by many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene; daughter, Merri Smith.
