Henry Joseph VOGELEISEN

Vogeleisen, Henry Joseph "Joe", age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 24, 2012 at North Baptist Church 4004 Lennon Rd. Flint. Pastor Todd Meece officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held 12:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the North Baptist Church or Carriage Town Ministries. Mr. Vogeleisen was born June 13, 1927 in Detroit, the son of the late Henry and Sophia (Raedle) Vogeleisen. He married Paula H. Doherty on June 23, 1951 in Flint. Joe loved to cook and was often called "Chef Joe". He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. Joe was also a member of North Baptist Church. Surviving are: wife, Paula of 61 years; 5 children, Nancy Wiederman of Davison, Pamela (David) Patterson of Flint, Christine (Ronald)Hemenway of Flushing, Paul Vogeleisen of Lapeer, Leah (Kevin) Knowlton of Swartz Creek; 5 grandchildren, Christina, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Matthew and Katie; 7 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hannah, Xavier, Peyton, Tessa, Skylar, Jaydin; and nephew Scott Douglass.
